Well...I did it. I shot my first bear! I got him on Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. in Sadie Cove, Alaska. My buddy Patrick shot a bear about a mile from here on Friday night and we had seen about 6 other bears that weekend, but they were up in the mountains. I did climb up after two on Friday, but after an hour of treacherous climbing we saw no sign of the bears and had to descend. This bear was about a mile from where we landed our boat and I stalked him through three rivers and high grass. He weighed about 250 pounds and measured in at 5'10". The average size for a bear in this area is 5 feet.
