Success! I got my bear and we caught plenty of Halibut. Although I was hoping to catch a King Salmon to round out my trip, I was not dissapointed. I did hook one, but it snapped my line.
We went out everyday Halibut fishing and in the evening we camped on a cliff in Sadie Cove, Alaska; Ten miles from Homer, Alaska; 220 miles south of Anchorage and 10 hours south of Eielson.
We saw hundreds of sea otters. They catch crabs on the bottom of the ocean and then they bring them to the surface and use a rock to break them open on their bellies. Bald Eagles were also everywhere. It was awesome to be fishing and watch them dive and grab a fish and take it to a tree or cliff and eat it.
Once the rest of my pictures get developed, I'll put them on here. I leave June 10 for Maryland and will be on leave for a week and a half in N.C. and Florida. I then will be at an Editor's Course at Fort Meade, Maryland, from June 21-July 21. If anyone wants to visit me during this time, let me know.
Until next time,
~ Justin
